Just because...


George Lakoff has had poor results in aiding progressive causes with well considered and researched rhetorical arms. Unfortunately, he's been an ineffective counterpoint to Frank Luntz, despite his academic bona fides. But I'm still indebted to his work in language and cognitive science, and I'm still absolutely compelled to at least consider everything he writes on any topic that pertains to the power of language.

SHROUD premieres this weekend!


Shannon Wettstein and I are in Iowa City, polishing up the piano concerto SHROUD with David Gompper and his ensemble at the Center for New Music. I couldn't be more pleased with how things are faring. The performance is this Sunday, so if you're in the neighborhood, please join us!

Claire Chase at San Diego Museum of Art

The mercurial Claire Chase presented her evolving project Density 2036. Her performance was a masterclass in instrumental theater, and a feat of endurance given that the program was played without pause.
